When you mind won’t slow down - and everything feels like too much

Support for when your mind won’t slow down

Anxiety can leave you feeling restless, tense, and stuck in your head — even when it seems like nothing’s “wrong.” You might find yourself constantly bracing for the worst, overthinking every decision, or carrying a tightness in your chest that just won’t ease up.

If you’re feeling worn down from holding it all together, therapy can offer a place to slow down, sort through what’s happening underneath, and begin to breathe a little easier.

You don’t have to push through it alone.

How I Can Help

Anxiety often has a more deep-rooted cause. In our sessions, we’ll slow things down so we can get to know your anxiety better, so we can start to unpack where that comes from and how it’s affecting your day-to-day life.

Here’s what that might look like:

  • I’ll help you build tools to calm your body and mind so you’re not always in survival mode. This is the most essential step in helping you create the inner foundation for self-regulation.

  • You’ll learn to notice anxious patterns (like overthinking, people-pleasing, or catastrophizing), talk through some of these defence mechanisms, and build healthier ones.

  • Along the way, we’ll also take time to understand your anxiety more deeply, so it feels less overwhelming, and you can begin to trust your ability to respond to it with more clarity and confidence.

  • We’ll explore the deeper beliefs underneath your anxiety — maybe about being “not enough” or needing to stay in control — and gently question where they came from.

  • Most importantly, you’ll learn how to respond to yourself with more care, clarity, and trust, instead of criticism or pressure.

You don’t have to explain things perfectly or have all the answers. We’ll figure it out together, one step at a time.

My Approach

I use a blend of therapeutic modalities based on your needs and goals, including:

  • Client-Centered Therapy (your experiences guide the process)

  • Part Work (including the Internal Family Systems (IFS)) (working with different parts of you — like the inner critic or anxious part — to foster more internal harmony)

  • Narrative Therapy (to help you understand more about how you became the person you are, to connect the dots, and to give you autonomy to re-author your narrative)

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy (building awareness and presence)

  • Art Therapy (a good approach to help you build some grounding tools and to externalize the anxiety to create some distance between anxiety and your authentic self)

Anxiety is often a response to something deeper — and when we meet it with compassion, insight, and the right tools, it doesn’t have to run the show anymore.
